Blackmagic Videohub routing automation
Re-patching a Videohub between shows is one more thing somebody has to remember. VRA puts the route on a button or inside a macro, so the right source reaches the right output in the same press as your camera and graphics changes.
What VRA does with Blackmagic Videohub.
Pick the input and the output
VRA lists the Videohub's inputs and outputs by name, and the command routes the one to the other.
Routes inside a macro
A route change runs in the same macro as a camera, graphics or switcher step, so a repeatable changeover is one press from a dashboard button.
Routing beside the mixer
Videohub decides where an SDI signal goes. Your ATEM, vMix or OBS connection still handles program cuts and layers.
How to set it up.
Requirements
- A Blackmagic Videohub reachable from VRA Core.
- TCP access to the Videohub control port, normally
9990. - Clearly labelled router inputs and outputs so operators can review each route safely.
Give the Videohub a stable address on the production network and confirm its input and output labels in Blackmagic Videohub Setup.
In VRA, add a Blackmagic Videohub connection.
Enter the router host and its control port. The default port is
9990.Save and wait for VRA to read the router's input and output names.
Create a test command that sends one known input to one safe output. Verify the destination before adding routes to macros.

Can VRA switch my Videohub routes automatically? +
Yes. Put the input-to-output command in a macro or an automation, and test it against a safe output before it touches the program path.
Does Videohub give me mixer controls in VRA? +
No. VRA uses Videohub for routing only. Program and preview, transitions and downstream keys come from a separate switcher connection.
Which port does the Videohub connection use? +
TCP 9990 by default. Use the configured port if your router was set up differently.
Does the SDI video go through VRA? +
No. The video stays in the Videohub and its cabling. VRA sends only the routing instruction over the control network.

VRA controls the routes over the studio network with one command: send this input to that output, picked from the router's own names.
