Turn your radio show into social media clips
Open your studio recording in a browser, cut an interview, crop it for vertical video and add subtitles. VRA works with your HyperDeck, NAS or recording folder, so you can make a social clip without uploading the whole show first.
The interview ends. Your clip starts here.
The guest has just told the story worth sharing. The recording is on the studio NAS and the producer is at another desk. They open it in the browser, jump to the conversation and cut the part they want. The file stays on the NAS.
From radio recording to social media clip
Keep your recording setup. Bring the part your audience wants to see into the editor.
Record
Keep recording where you record now
Point VRA at your HyperDeck, your NAS, or the folder vMix and OBS write to. Every new recording turns up on its own. The source recording stays where it is.
Find
Go to the conversation
Open the recording in your browser. When Audio Triggers is connected, microphone activity marks the talk sections on the timeline.
Cut
Choose the moment
Mark the section you want, trim or split it, and position a vertical or square crop if that is the format you need.
Export
Make the finished clip
Add subtitles and export. Your studio's Media Server renders the clip, ready to download or deliver to a configured storage location.
Record
Open recordings where you already keep them.
Connect a HyperDeck, NAS or the folder where vMix or OBS saves your recordings. VRA makes the recordings available in the browser without uploading the source file. Your Media Server provides the preview and renders the finished clip.
Start and stop the deck from the same browser tab, with every disk's free space and remaining record time in front of you.
Frame
Start with the shots from your show.
If you use VRA during the show, Audio Triggers selects cameras from microphone activity and Camera Assist prepares supported PTZ shots off air. The recording keeps those camera cuts, so you can use them in the clip.
Camera automation is optional. Clips also edits recordings from other production setups.
How Camera Assist framesFind
Jump straight to the conversation.
When Audio Triggers events are available, the timeline shows microphone activity and groups stretches of talk into numbered moments. Jump to a conversation, listen back and choose the section worth sharing.
Programme and studio events appear alongside the recording to help you find a show change or microphone opening.
Cut
One recording. A clip that fits a phone.
Mark the start and end, split where you want, and drag one crop rectangle to vertical, square or widescreen. Use the same recording for social clips and a widescreen version.
The crop is yours to place and stays put for the export. It does not chase a moving speaker.
How the editor worksCaption
Readable with the sound off.
Subtitles are transcribed on the Media Server in your own studio, reviewed in the browser and written into the export.
Choose Dutch, English or automatic language detection. Review the subtitles before burning them into the video or exporting an SRT file.
What this does not do.
- Publish to social platforms
- Clips exports a file. Download it, share a temporary link or send it to a configured export location; posting is your team's workflow.
- Pick the highlight for you
- Numbered moments mark where people talked. Which moment is worth sharing is your call.
- Follow a moving speaker
- The crop is a rectangle you position. It stays fixed for that export.
Questions about clipping your show.
How do I make social media clips from a radio show? +
Start with a video recording of the show. VRA Clips opens that studio recording in your browser, where you select a section, crop it if needed and add subtitles. Your Media Server renders the finished video, which you can download and use in your social publishing workflow.
Do I have to upload the whole recording before editing? +
No. The source recording stays in its connected storage location. VRA streams a preview to your browser and renders the selected clip on the Media Server. Preview images and waveform data are generated for navigation; the full source file is not uploaded for editing.
Can I use my Blackmagic HyperDeck with VRA? +
Yes. VRA connects to the HyperDeck on your studio network, sees the recordings on its disks and opens them in the editor. You can start and stop the deck from the browser and see how much space and record time each disk has left. The recordings stay on the deck.
Do I need cloud storage for this? +
No. The recording stays where it was made, on the deck, the NAS or the folder you record to. VRA streams a preview into the browser and your own Media Server renders the finished clip. Only the finished clip is uploaded.
Can VRA find the highlights of my radio show automatically? +
VRA groups microphone activity into numbered talk moments when Audio Triggers events are available. Those markers help you find an interview or conversation without searching the whole recording. They do not judge which moment is interesting or predict what will perform well on social media. You choose the clip.
Can I make vertical clips for Reels, TikTok or YouTube Shorts? +
Yes. You can crop a recording to 9:16 for a vertical video, or choose square and landscape formats. The crop is a rectangle you position yourself and stays fixed for that export. It does not automatically follow a moving speaker.
Does VRA add automatic subtitles to radio clips? +
Yes. Transcription runs on your station's own Media Server. You can choose Dutch, English or automatic language detection, review the text and style the subtitles before export. Subtitles are burned into the video, or exported as an SRT file.
Which recordings can I use with VRA Clips? +
A Blackmagic HyperDeck, local and network folders, FTP and S3 sources, or the folders vMix and OBS record to. A Media Server provides access to the recordings. VRA can also start and stop recording on connected HyperDeck, vMix and OBS systems.
Does VRA publish clips directly to social media? +
No. Clips exports a finished video file. Download it, copy a temporary sharing link or send it to a configured export location, then post it with the tools you already use.
Does the recording need automatic camera switching? +
No. You can edit a recording from another production setup. If you use VRA camera automation during the show, the recording includes those camera cuts. Available Audio Triggers events also mark microphone activity on the Clips timeline.
