What VRA does with vMix.

Inputs follow the microphones

When a presenter's microphone opens, VRA selects their vMix input. A rule or a rundown item can select one too, and anyone can take over from the Live Switcher page in VRA Cloud.

Graphics as one NDI input

The Render Engine draws the on-air graphics and sends them to vMix over NDI. VRA switches that input on and off as a vMix overlay.

Recording follows the rundown

A rundown item or a command starts and stops vMix recording, streaming and external output when the show reaches that point.

Your vMix scripts, fired by name

Anything you already scripted in vMix runs from VRA as a command. The script name is the only setting.

Recording state in Clips

Clips shows vMix tally, recording and streaming state, version and edition as they change, and starts or stops the recording from its own banner.

Recordings land ready to cut

Point a Clips ingest source at the vMix recording folder and each finished recording turns up in VRA, ready to cut in the browser.

How to set it up.

Requirements

A Windows PC running vMix, with Web Controller and the TCP API enabled in its settings.
The VRA Core app on the same network as the vMix machine.
Every edition connects. The full graphics set uses more than one overlay channel, so it needs the HD edition or above. Camera-angle automation and script triggers need the 4K edition.
vMix sets its own hardware requirements on top of those for the VRA apps.

In VRA Cloud, open Settings, Advanced, Switchers, add a switcher of type vMix and enter the host and port of the vMix machine.
In vMix, open Settings, Web Controller, and enable it together with the TCP API.
Enable the switcher connection and open the switcher page in VRA Cloud to test it.

vMix questions

Does VRA replace vMix? +

No. vMix keeps mixing the video. VRA tells it which input to take, when to show a graphic and when to record. The vMix machine you run today stays where it is.

Which vMix edition do I need for VRA? +

Every edition connects, from Basic HD to Max. The full graphics set uses more than one overlay channel, which needs HD or above. Camera-angle automation and script triggers need the 4K edition.

How do I get VRA graphics into vMix? +

The Render Engine draws the graphics and sends them as an NDI stream. In vMix that stream is one NDI input, used as an overlay. Install the Render Engine, the Output Player app, on the vMix machine and that stream stays off the network.

Can VRA start and stop a vMix recording? +

Yes. Commands and rundown items start or stop recording, streaming and external output in vMix, and the Clips recording banner has its own start and stop.

Can vMix and VRA run on the same PC? +

Yes. Running the Render Engine on the vMix machine, sending NDI, is the most efficient setup. vMix adds its own hardware requirements on top of the ones for the VRA apps.
