GPIO and Control

Ember+ GPIO triggers for visual radio

Use incoming Ember+ states to trigger VRA studio actions. Select the paths your equipment exposes and map them into the camera and graphics workflow, so an existing studio control can drive the visuals.

How Ember+ and VRA work together.

Use controls already in the studio

Use a device's exposed state as the input for a VRA automation.

Choose from discovered paths

Browse what the connected device exposes and map the points relevant to your workflow.

Test the state before the action

Check the mapped input in VRA, then use it as a condition for a camera or graphics action.

How to set it up.

Requirements

  • A compatible Ember+ device reachable from VRA Core.
  • Access to the device's configured network port.
  • GPIO access in your VRA licence and known input states to test.
  1. Add an Ember+ connection in the studio GPIO settings.

  2. Enter the device host and configured port; VRA uses 9000 as the default.

  3. Connect and select the discovered paths you need, then configure their input mappings.

  4. Change each source state and verify it in VRA before using it in an automation condition.

Ember+ questions

Does every Ember+ device expose the same controls? +

No. The device defines its parameter tree. Check its available paths and test the states you need with your exact equipment.

Does this connection carry audio? +

No. It carries control state. Your audio interface and console continue to handle the programme audio.

Visual Radio Assist

About Ember+.

Ember+ exposes device parameters over the studio network. VRA's GPIO connection lets you discover paths from a compatible device and map the inputs you need.

That state can be used in studio automation. Available paths depend on the connected device, so setup starts by testing what your equipment exposes.

Livewire Routing Protocol

Trigger VRA camera, graphics and macro commands from Livewire LWRP GPIO inputs. Discover available paths and map the state changes your studio uses.

MQTT

Connect external studio tools to VRA over MQTT. Read studio state and work with signals using access scoped to the studio and permitted features.
