TCP connections for VRA studio automation
Connect supported studio equipment to VRA over your local network. TCP carries data for specific integrations, such as the AerOn v2 feed or Blackmagic Videohub control; the selected connector determines what VRA can do.
How TCP and VRA work together.
Read a direct automation feed
The AerOn v2 connection reads radio automation data over TCP for graphics and studio synchronisation.
Control SDI routes
The Videohub connection sends input-to-output routing commands over its TCP control connection.
Check the actual protocol
The device connector defines available actions, authentication and data. A shared transport does not establish compatibility.
How to set it up.
Requirements
- A supported device protocol or radio automation format.
- VRA Core with network access to the device's configured host and port.
- The setup instructions for that specific integration.
Find the VRA connector for the device or radio system you want to use.
Enter the host and port shown in that connector's setup instructions.
Allow the connection between Core and the device on your studio network.
Test the connector's data or actions before attaching them to an on-air workflow.
TCP questions
Can VRA control any TCP device? +
No. VRA needs a connector that understands the device's protocol. Send us the model and control documentation so we can check the connection.
Is there one TCP port for every integration? +
No. Use the host and port specified by the device and its VRA connector. Videohub and radio automation services have different settings.
Visual Radio Assist
About TCP.
TCP is a network transport, not a universal equipment interface. Two systems using TCP still need to understand the same commands and data.
VRA provides connectors for particular devices and radio automation formats. Choose the matching integration rather than assuming that a host and port are enough.
What you can do with this connection
Automated camera switching for radio
Switch cameras from microphone activity and prepare PTZ shots off air.

Blackmagic Videohub
Control Blackmagic Videohub SDI routes from VRA. Select inputs and outputs through studio buttons, macros and automation over the local network.
Inbound HTTP
Send current and upcoming radio automation data to VRA over inbound HTTP. Use the generic JSON format for now-playing graphics and item-based visuals.
