Show what AerOn is playing in your radio graphics. VRA reads its playlist export to update song titles and trigger visuals as the on-air item changes.

Now playing without retyping
The export supplies the current item's artist, title, timing, duration and type. VRA can also resolve item artwork when the export and image paths are available.
Graphics follow the item type
Use the fields your feed supplies to control graphics. Where item type or category is available, you can show different visuals for songs, jingles and commercials.
Read the playlist export as it changes
AerOn writes VRA_EXPORT.xml whenever the on-air state changes. VRA Core watches that exact file, parses the latest export and updates the studio state.
The link stays local
VRA Core reads the automation feed in the studio, through the connection described below. It shares the resulting now-playing information with VRA Cloud.
How to set it up.
Requirements
- VRA Core running on a Windows machine that can read the export file.
- File access from AerOn to the folder where
VRA_EXPORT.xmlis written. - The VRA template bundle from the AerOn connection screen.
Add an AerOn automation connection in VRA and download the template bundle from the connection screen.
Extract the templates somewhere the AerOn workstation and VRA Core machine can both access.
In AerOn, open Tools, Instellingen, Export HTML/XML/Tekst. Select
VRA_SJABLOOM.txtas the source template and write the result toVRA_EXPORT.xml.In VRA, enter the full path to
VRA_EXPORT.xml, enable the connection and confirm that the current item changes when AerOn advances.
Aeron questions
Which AerOn file does VRA watch? +
The standard setup uses VRA_SJABLOOM.txt as AerOn's export template and VRA_EXPORT.xml as the generated file. Point the VRA connection to the generated XML file.
Does AerOn need to run on the VRA Core computer? +
No. The applications can run on different machines as long as AerOn can write the export and VRA Core can read the resulting file path.
Does VRA change the AerOn rundown? +
No. The connection is read-only from VRA's point of view. Your radio automation remains the source of the rundown and VRA reacts to the data it sends.
Does the now-playing feed depend on the internet? +
The connection between your radio automation and VRA Core runs locally. VRA Cloud uses an internet connection to show that information in the browser; a local feed does not make browser control available offline.

AerOn is radio automation software for preparing and playing a station's broadcast schedule. Its configurable text export gives VRA a local view of the current and upcoming items.
VRA reads the automation feed and never writes back into the playout log. The radio system stays in charge of the sound. Visual Radio Assist uses its metadata to keep the picture in step with the show.
