AerOn now-playing graphics for visual radio
AerOn's export file names the item on air, and VRA reads it every time that item changes. Song titles, artwork and item-based visuals fill in from it on their own.
What VRA does with Aeron.
Now playing without retyping
AerOn's export carries the current item's artist, title, start time, duration and song type, plus its campaign, version and an 800 by 800 image. Artwork reaches VRA when Core can read the image path.
Item types drive the visuals
Sort the item types your feed sends into item groups, like music, jingles or commercials, and use those groups as rundown triggers. Now-playing values reach your graphics as variables.
Read the export as it changes
AerOn writes VRA_EXPORT.xml whenever the on-air state changes. VRA Core watches that exact file, parses the latest export and updates the studio state.
No studio sync on this connection
The file connection reads what AerOn exports and nothing else. Mirroring AerOn's active studio in VRA needs the AerOn v2 connection.
How to set it up.
Requirements
- VRA Core running on a Windows machine that can read the export file.
- File access from AerOn to the folder where
VRA_EXPORT.xmlis written. - The VRA template bundle from the AerOn connection screen.
Add an AerOn automation connection in VRA and download the template bundle from the connection screen.
Extract the templates somewhere the AerOn workstation and VRA Core machine can both reach, like a UNC path.
In AerOn, open Tools, Instellingen, Export HTML/XML/Tekst. Select
VRA_SJABLOOM.txtas the source template and write the result toVRA_EXPORT.xml.In VRA, enter the full path to
VRA_EXPORT.xml, enable the connection and confirm that the current item changes when AerOn advances.
Aeron questions
Which AerOn file does VRA watch? +
The standard setup uses VRA_SJABLOOM.txt as AerOn's export template and VRA_EXPORT.xml as the generated file. Point the VRA connection at the generated XML file.
Does AerOn need to run on the VRA Core computer? +
No. They can run on different machines, as long as AerOn can write the export and VRA Core can read the resulting file path.
Does VRA write anything back to AerOn? +
No. VRA only reads. Your radio automation stays the source of the rundown, and VRA reacts to what it sends.
Does the AerOn link need the internet? +
No. AerOn and VRA Core talk over your studio network. VRA Cloud, where you see and control the result in the browser, does need an internet connection.
