Audisi GML visual radio integration

Keep your radio graphics up to date with Audisi GML. VRA reads the Realtime Info XML file that GML produces and makes its now-playing information available to your visuals.

How GML and VRA work together.

Now playing without retyping

VRA reads the current programme information contained in the GML Realtime Info XML and makes those values available to the studio workflow.

Graphics follow the item type

Use the fields your feed supplies to control graphics. Where item type or category is available, you can show different visuals for songs, jingles and commercials.

VRA watches one XML path

The connection screen asks for the exact Realtime Info XML file. Core reacts when GML changes that file, so file access and a stable path are the important setup checks.

The link stays local

VRA Core reads the automation feed in the studio, through the connection described below. It shares the resulting now-playing information with VRA Cloud.

How to set it up.

Requirements

  • GML configured to maintain a Realtime Info XML file.
  • VRA Core with read access to that file path.
  • A stable file share and Windows service credentials when the XML is stored on another machine.
  1. Configure GML to generate or update its Realtime Info XML file.

  2. Make that file available to the machine running VRA Core, using a stable local or network path.

  3. Add a GML automation connection in VRA and enter the full path to the Realtime Info XML.

  4. Enable the connection, advance a test item in GML and confirm that VRA reads the update.

  5. Only attach graphics or macros after the field values and item changes have been verified.

GML questions

What path does the GML connection need? +

Enter the full path to the Realtime Info XML generated by GML. If it is on another computer, use a path and service account that VRA Core can read reliably.

Is the GML link an HTTP connection? +

No. This integration is file based. GML updates the Realtime Info XML and VRA Core watches that file for changes.

Does VRA change the Audisi GML rundown? +

No. The connection is read-only from VRA's point of view. Your radio automation remains the source of the rundown and VRA reacts to the data it sends.

Does the now-playing feed depend on the internet? +

The connection between your radio automation and VRA Core runs locally. VRA Cloud uses an internet connection to show that information in the browser; a local feed does not make browser control available offline.

Audisi GML is radio automation software. VRA connects to its Realtime Info XML by watching the file that GML updates on the studio network.

VRA reads the automation feed and never writes back into the playout log. The radio system stays in charge of the sound. Visual Radio Assist uses its metadata to keep the picture in step with the show.
