ProppFrexx ONAIR now-playing graphics
Update your radio graphics the moment ProppFrexx ONAIR starts a track. VRA receives the current track and the next one, so your overlays show what is playing and what comes after it.
What VRA does with ProppFrexx.
Now playing without retyping
For the track that starts, VRA gets its ID, cue-in offset, title, artist, duration in milliseconds, track type and start time. The next track comes with its ID, title, artist and type.
Item types drive the visuals
Sort the item types your feed sends into item groups, like music, jingles or commercials, and use those groups as rundown triggers. Now-playing values reach your graphics as variables.
OnTrackPlay runs the POST
ProppFrexx runs an EXEC_SEND_HTTP_POST action every time a playlist track starts. VRA generates the command body, with the fields it expects.
The next track has no timing
ProppFrexx sends the next track without a duration or start time. A countdown to the next song cannot come from this feed.
How to set it up.
Requirements
- ProppFrexx ONAIR with permission to edit playlist event commands.
- VRA Core reachable from the ProppFrexx machine.
- The generated Parameter Data from the ProppFrexx connection screen in VRA.
Add a ProppFrexx automation connection in VRA and copy the Parameter Data generated for it.
In ProppFrexx, open Settings, Events/Commands, Playlist and edit the OnTrackPlay event.
Add a command with the action
EXEC_SEND_HTTP_POST.Paste the VRA Parameter Data and replace the host placeholder with the hostname or IP address of the VRA Core machine.
Save the event, start a test track and confirm that VRA shows both current and next.

Which ProppFrexx event should trigger VRA? +
The Playlist OnTrackPlay event, with an EXEC_SEND_HTTP_POST command added. It sends a fresh update when a new track becomes current.
What must I change in the generated Parameter Data? +
Replace the host placeholder with the hostname or LAN IP address of the VRA Core machine. Keep the rest of the generated structure intact.
Does VRA write anything back to ProppFrexx ONAIR? +
No. VRA only reads. Your radio automation stays the source of the rundown, and VRA reacts to what it sends.
Does the ProppFrexx ONAIR link need the internet? +
No. ProppFrexx ONAIR and VRA Core talk over your studio network. VRA Cloud, where you see and control the result in the browser, does need an internet connection.
